MG MGB Technical - Heat Insulation Material info

For those interested in trying to find the heat insulation blanket material found at SOME Home Depot's, here is the pertinent info. Just note that the UPC can be used at ANY other store to look up if they can get it for you.

We show the following info on the "Space Age" insulating blanket material (identical material to the automotive version as sold by others) available at our Home Depot (and probably other stores, just use the UPC # to trace the product itself):

SKU # 329-730 (this is our tracking number inside Home Depot's inventory system)

UPC Code 7 95274 36080 5

"Quality Heat Shield Water Heater Jacket ~ R-19 equivalent"

$19.98 USD

Where are my manners? Bob, thank you very much for this info. I have archived it, as I hope to be refurbishing my interior next year.

The reason I wanted to pipe in is to point out that like this example, there are a lot of non-MG things in the MG catalogs that are sold at inflated prices.

I don't have my Moss catalog handy, but I'd bet a roll of insulation big enough to cover a water heater goes for $90. The uni-sync is not an LBC specific tool. I bought one from an auto parts store for my dual carb VW 30 years ago. The MityVac is sold at AutoZone for about $25. Chrome Wheel trim rings are pretty generic and can be bought online or at a wheel and tire shop for $10 - $15 apiece. I don't recall the price, but after comparison shopping, I bought my brake master cylinder from NAPA at a price less than the catalogs.

Granted, some things are better bought through catalogs. I can't figure out why my local carquest wants $25 for a pair of air filters that I can buy for $10 in a catalog. In fact, all of the tune up parts are more expensive locally. Supply and demand, I suppose. Not many MG's in these parts.

I too want to keep Moss and her sisters in business. I buy almost all of my MG-specific parts from them. But when it comes to tools or parts they've sourced to improve or customize our cars, they've been innovative in their searches. We can do likewise.
