MG MGB Technical - Help with Head lamps
Hello - all - A while back I asked some questions about headlights ( thanks Paul ! ) well here is another - I have no other referance so I need to ask - with installation kit there is a small spring and also a small metal Tab - rectangular with two holes at each end and a small screw with the tab - I know that the spring works with the adjuster screws - but how and where I have no idea - also the tab ?? all I can think of is a strain relief for the wires ? - can some one help ? - thanks |

Sandy, The spring goes between the headlamp inner cup ( there is a small hole on the edge ) and the bowl to hold the side opposite the adjuster screws. It fixes to a small tab in the back of the bowl - the replacement one you have is in case the original has rusted out. |

The tab sounds it might be to secure the outer chrome ring, but that does not apply to MGB as you can't get at the screw! Instead there is a spring-clip at the bottom of the bowl and the ring is 'just' pushed on. A new headlamp bowl from an MG parts house came with the screw tab and I had to change over my spring clip, fortunately it was in good enough condition. |

Just wanted to say thanks to all - yes It all was too simple after all. I installed a set of Bosch H4r on the road - Cheers |
