MG MGB Technical - How many MGB engines?
Well, I bought an mgb roadster. It was built in England in 1968, shipped to NZ in July 68. God knows how many engines later I bought it. It has a really strange engine number and upon searching I think the block came from a Leyland Sherpa! So.... here's my question: How many different production models came out with the 1800 B series engine, that can be readily transplanted into and MGB? 1- Morris Marina 2- Leyland Sherpa 3-? |

Pray Tell, what is the engine number? Can't be of much help if all you say is you have a problem. |

Zillions of models, including tractors, "Landcrabs", and who knows what else. I have heard of diesel versions, but never seen one. This is not a useful way to approach the problem. More to the point is that there are 3 and 5 mains. Within these, they have various different drillings for certain fittings, like fuel pump, tach drives or dipstick location. Transverse "landcrab" may be quite odd, but I've never worked on one. Start with the number and work from that, using available references. FRM http://www.usachoice.net/gofanu |
