MG MGB Technical - Hydraulics?
Joe Curto has just informed me that he no longer rebuilds hydraulic components as he is specializing just on carburettors. He suggested sending M/Cs and shox to Apple. Is that the best we can do? Is Apple better at shox than they are at M/Cs? My '73 B/GT needs front shox. Suggestions anyone? Thanks, Allen |

Allen. World Wide Auto Parts, in Wisconsin, has an excellent reputation for rebuilt shocks. Its owner, Peter Caldwell, will drop in here and answer questions from time to time. I have been using a set of WWAP rebuilds for several years on my GT. They are performing well. In addition to Apple, there is a company called White Post Restorations. The only thing I know about their rebuild service is that it is exceptionally expensive. (They quoted me $225 plus $20 for shipping to resleeve a clutch master cylinder. A new one, from Moss, costs about $120.) Les |

Les, Many thanks! I'll take your advice on WWAP. How do I contact them? I know about White Post, having toured their facility several years ago. A friend operating a restoration shop in Roanoke Virginia says a very high percentage of White Post rebuilt hydraulic cylinders get sent back. Cheers, Allen |

Allen, We are at the email address above, or peter@nosimport.com. Our soon-to-be-updated website is at www.nosimport.com Another source who is VERY good at rebuilding/sleeving cylinders is Sierra Specialty Automotive 3494 Chandler Road Quincy, CA 95971 (800) 4-BRASS-1 or (530) 283-1886 e-mail: joe@restoresource.com. Web Site: http://www.restoresource.com/ There really is not much connection between shocks and cylinders as far as a rebuild operation is concerned. As a note: I'd have replied privately but without an address in your post, I couldn't. I wish everyone were less "secret" Peter C. |

Thanks Peter. No intent to be secret - just got rushed this morning and skipped it. Allen |
