MG MGB Technical - I need help with rebuilt rear shocks

Hello everyone,

I recently purchased a set of "rebuilt" rear shocks from eBay.
When attempting to install them on my 73 GT this weekend I discovered that the arms of the shocks travel in the wrong arc...
Rather than moving from say 7 o'clock to 11 o'clock
they move from 10 o'clock to 2 o'clock.
Is it possible that when the shocks were rebuilt they were put together wrong?
Is there a way to remove the arm and reinstal it correctly?
I have contacted the people that I purchased the shocks from and wouldnt you know it...the email was bounced back... =[

Do Morgans use the same shocks as MGB's?

Are the arms not bolted onto a splined shaft coming out of the damper? They are on the front ones (or at least one is) but the Workshop Manual shows the wrong side for the rears, and it's a while since I looked at any. But the picture in the Parts Catalogue looks like it is pressed on. If they've got that wrong how good is the rest of it? I'd get my money back if I could. But are you sure your clock is right? I thought they were more or less horizontal with the car on its wheels i.e. 3 o'clock or 9 o'clock depending on orientation, and went a couple of hours either side of that.

the middle of the travel is vertical.
it should be horizontal.
the arm is pressed on.
I was told the shocks were rebuilt units via Apple.
I contacted apple directly and they looked up the people who I got the shocks from. Im going to send the shocks back to apple and they will look at them.
