MG MGB Technical - idling problem
hi i have a stock bgt 1969 which i recently converted to K&N filters and new no6 needles. I then had the car kryptotuned. i was very happy with results but now (about 300 miles later) there seems to be an idling problem. Driving is fine but when the clutch is diped say at traffic lights one time the revs will be very low as if it is about to stall and i will need to place my foot on the accelerator slightly to prevent it fro m doing so. The very next set of lights just some 200 metres up the road and when the clutch is dipped it will rev at about 1300 as if the choke is out. The next set of lights and it will be back to normal and purr like a kitten. any ideas what this is? |

Could be a few things here JT but the most likely are sticking throttle cable or sticking butterfly on one or both carbs. When it idles at 1300rpm get out and have a poke about, try to pull the inner cable out of the outer - do the revs drop ? and then push the rear and front throttle spindle stops back on to the screw to see which one makes the idle drop. Take necessary action to free the offending item when you locate it. |
