MG MGB Technical - indicator/fuelgauge
hi my indicator/fuel gauge all work fine with ignition on then when i start the car thy still work for a few seconds then the fuel gauge and indicators pack in on a 66 roadster. |

You've probably got a faulty voltage stabilizer or an ignition switch that's about to fail. RAY '67 Roadster |

The instrument voltage stabiliser doesn't feed the indicators, and if if it was the ignition switch everything else would fail at the same time. On a 66 the instrument voltage stabiliser, indicators, and heater fan are fed direct off the fusebox, with three other green wires coming off the fusebox feeding 1) brake lights, 2) wipers, and 3) reversing lights. These four wires are almost certainly two wires in each of two spade connectors, which means it *could* be a bad connection on one of the fusebox spades if one other of those circuits has also failed but the other two haven't. If, on the other hand *all* the green circuits have failed (the tach and engine including fuel pump will still work as they are unfused) it could be any of the several connections inside the fusebox, or the white wires feeding it. |

thanks, all electrical systems were working fine the loom and all connectors are new i fitted them a year ago,i removed the speedo to replace the cable re fitted speedo and re fitted some tangled up cables and now i have this problem.seems odd that every thing works for a few secs then fuel gauge and flashers stop working then switch off ign.switch back on and all works fine for a few secs. |

Sounds like you have dislodged one or more of the bullets in the 4-way connectors behind the dash, then. |
