MG MGB Technical - Indicators

I have a 76 Rubber Bumper BGT. THe indicators have recently stoped working. The Hazard lights work fine, as dose everything else except the Tachograph, which will work fine until the indicator switch is used for either right or left. I have changed the flasher unit (hazard and Indicator), checked all the fuses, checked all bulbs, and still nothing. Has anyone any ideas as I have spent 2 whole week ends trying to sort this out.

The 12v supply for the indicators goes through the hazard switch in the off position and this is shared with the heater switch as well as the tachometer. There is a multi-way plug at the back of the dash near the left-hand side (one of three connecting the dash to the main loom) and this is fed by its own in-line fuse from the ignition relay, not the 2nd fuse up in the fusebox. Did you check the in-line fuses as well? This sounds like a bad connection rather than a blown fuse if the tach works until you try to use the indicators, and it could be in the fuse-holder (likely) as well as the multi-way plug (less likely). Use a voltmeter to test along the circuit with the indicators on and off, starting from the white/brown side of the fuse. When you reach a point where the voltage drops with the indicators on but it didn't before, the fault lies between the two points.

Paul,

Thanks for the comments. I have suspected that it is a bad connection and checked the fuse assembly and all fuses. As you suggest I am working towards the Hazard switch, though I am still unsure that this could be the cause. I have checked that all the lights come on using the hazard switch I have also checked the heater works. As you suggest I suspect that it is a case of going through the entire cisrcuit for the indicators. I don't think that it is in the indicator switch, or the flasher unit as if I use a fly lead to bypass the switch or the flasher unit the indicators won't work and the Tacho stops. I will try again on Thursday evening and let you know how I get on.
