MG MGB Technical - Intake manifold
Ok, I know I've asked this question before, but I got no answer the first time, so her we go again ;-) What intake manifold can be used to install a pair of Weber 40 DCOE 's on a MGB engine (NOT a crossflow!)? Do they exist or do they need to be made by hand? Has anyone ever done such a conversion? (actually, I'll be installing 2 Dellorto 40 DHLA carbs, but they are fully compatible) And where could i get such a manifold? I know it's not very nice of me to post the same question twice, but I've been searching everywhere, including the bbs archive, like a maniac but have not find anything useful yet. Thanks for reading this anyway!!! regards, Alexander |

In Peter Burgess' book 'How to Power Tune the 4-Cylinder MGB Engine' there is a photo and reference to a manifold for using a pair of 45s on the B engine, of course you only use one side of each carb but you get a straight air flow to the head. |

Alexander - I have seen two types of DCOE Weber intakes for the 'B. The first is the usual "bent elbow" design, the other is a longer manifold with a straight shot into the intake ports. Unfortunately, I don't have any idea where one of these might be purchased. At least you can feel sure that these manifolds do, indeed, exist. And an arrangement like that would obviate the need to hang TWO carbs, only using 1/2 of each. The shortcoming is in packaging any sort of air filter, of course. |
