MG MGB Technical - intermittent petrol leaks

I have a small (at present) petrol leak from the brass union which attaches the petrol pipe from the tank to the SU fuel pump on my 1972 MGBGT. This leak only seems to occur when the tank is fairly full and the outside temperature is low.I have checked the tightness of the brass nut on union but suspect that it has already been overtightened by a previous owner/mechanic. Is there a washer inside this union and if so can these be readily obtained? Any other advice?
On a completely different tack has anybody got an opinion on the electronic rust protection systems on the market? Are they worth the money?

Derek - The union that you are talking about does not use any washer, it is a tapered cone shape that fits into a female taper and then is snugged up with the nut. It is possible that the securing nut is cracked. This will take a strong light and contortionist abilities to get one's head up to see the nut well enough to see any crack. The other possibility is that the seating surfaces have been distorted from over tightening. I believe that Moss sells the fittings that you can use for replacement. You might also check with Burlen Fuel in England <http://www.burlen.co.uk/>. Good luck - Dave
