MG MGB Technical - Is it the shocks??

Have 79 le that when I drive over a sharp dip in the road ( much like a settling in a line repair across a street ) I get this feeling that the brakes were applied hard or a superior force giving me a tug from behind.

My car handles other bumps such as pot holes or wash boards quite well

My guess is the rear shocks are weak or low of oil etc. I fell the sensation in the shifter but don't really hear a rubbing noise.

Has anyone had this similar experience? Tires are stock on le rims

I'm just guessing here....have you checked the parking brake cables to make
sure there are no hangups or that there are no potential areas where they can
be snagged by anything when the suspension is jounced?

The shock absorbers will have no affect on whether the tyres rub or not. *Are* there any rub-marks in the rear arches or on the tyres?
