MG MGB Technical - K&N pots...or not?
My MGB is days away from a completed rebuild (after 18 months off road) by a 3rd party (lazy I know but I cannot do body-work to save my life). He is offering a couple of K&N cylinders for the air filters to go on the existing original carbs and replace the original unit. However he says sometimes they work...and sometimes you need to change the fuel injectors into the carbs. Any views? Thanks in advance |

... I meant the needles in the carbs... If I need to replace them is it relatively simple, what is the cost and does it do anything significant to insurance premiums? |

K&N filters flow more air than the standard filters and you terefore need a richer needle to compensate - usually a AAA needle is required. This should not affect insurace premiums but it is wise to tell your insurer that the modification has been made. |

K+Ns work well, see the archives |

Thanks for the input, Apparently its running sweet with the K&Ns and the old needles- possibly 'cos its a relatively recently reconned unleaded engine. I pick it up Saturday so I'll know then. |

Of course the best bit is the induction roar... |

I went from no 5 to no 6 when I put K+Ns on , then back to no 5 as the plugs kept sooting up . |
