MG MGB Technical - Koni rear telescopics

I have just acquired a set of these rear conversion shocks for MGB/C. but there are no instructions with the box. Everything else is there except a couple of washers and the gear is unused. Has anyone got a set of instructions or a good recall of fitting them, please?

Hmmm, my first recommendation would be not to bother. Even adjustables have to be on their softest setting for most people or they are just too hard. Unless part of a radical suspension redesign they really aren't worth the effort, lever-arms are just as good and a damn-sight cheaper to replace.

OTOH ... if you do change them I'd be interested in having the old lever-arms and all fittings off you as I want to go back to them, so maybe I ought to be saying how good the conversion is. But I can't.

archie,Paul It seems to me that somewhere I heard that the hot set up for rear shocks, are the shocks that come on a dodge colt. I'm not sure which vintage, as there were a few very different "Colts" but maybe someelse knows RIC
Ps To install the tube shocks most kits require the shock bracket under the leaf spring to be removed and reversed then the new top mount is bolted to the frame useing the ortginal mounting holes from the original shock from ther its quite straight forward. good luck I've used tube shocks in the past and don't find them too stiff

The Colt shocks in question are those used on early 1980's models.

I fitted a set of Monroe adjustable shocks over five years ago in place of the lever arms. I also fitted new leaf springs at the time with all new bushes. They have preformed well on the "standard" factory setting and their is no problem with the ride. The ride height is also good as the old shocks and springs did make the back end look low and tired. I think you may find that either Koni will send you (email) you a set of instructions or perhaps the MGOC will be able to give you instructions as to the correct fitting arrangements. My car has never lost traction at the rear under any driving conditions, it does have 6J alloys and good tyres to compliment the setup. Try it, you can always revert back to the lever arms if you are not happy with the end product. I may have my fitting instructions some where (long time ago) and if I lay my hands on them I will scan and email them to you.
Good luck

Doug,
Thanks for the scanned images of the instructions - really appreciate it.
