MG MGB Technical - Lead Additives

I have been told that once you start to use a certain type of lead additive to unleaded fuel then you should not change. In the UK I have been using Castrol lead replacement plus octain booster. However, now I am here in Holland all I have managed to find is Wynns lead replacement. That raises two questions. 1) Can I use any lead replacement additive, with out harming my engine? And 2) I have read the Wynnns bottle and it does not say anything about the contents of the lead replacement. What is this product’s base?

FHBVC said mixing of additives 'should be avoided', but if you have to make one change because what you used before is no longer available you don't have much choice - apart from getting it shipped over to you from the UK e.g. from the MGOC.

(probably have to cut and paste) claims that Wynns Lead Replacement additive didn't work, although its octane booster apparently does. Wynns was not apparently submitted for testing by MIRA and FHBVC. Castrol contains Phosphorus, I don't know if any other products do.

Claims that Red Line and Superblend passed the full-throttle FHBVC tests whereas Castrol and Millers VSP weren't even submitted for it - and here am I running Valvemaster as Phosphorus is supposed to be the additive that gave the least recession. However other reports have stated that all products went through the same tests - it would seem pointless at best or misleading at worst to do otherwise.

http://www.wynns.be/Products/TIS/CONS/670.htm doesn't even say what it's own product contains.

Paul
many thanks for your help. I saw the Wynns product in several local shops and i am aslo supprised to see that they do not give the contents.

For those of you intrested in this subject I found the following which aslo gives teh contents of the Wynns product
http://www.wynns.nl/prod_benzine_lv.html
However after reading the information given I doubt if I would personally change additives. Now where can I find a Dutch outlet for Castrol's pruduct?
