MG MGB Technical - Leaking brake

Got home tonight from a 3 day out of town trip and found a lovely puddle of fluid under the left rear tire of the BGT. It appears to be silicon brake fluid.

So Sunday will be a brake day. I just did a bleed a few weeks back after replacing the front pads so I am hoping it is as simple as a loose bleeder. If not, I am hoping I have the right spares in my parts bid for a rebuild of the rear brake cylinder.

The positive? I was not driving it when is decided to leak.

Turns out to be a leaking rear cylinder. Tried all the local auto parts stores in a vain hope they might have a replacement. No such luck. So I ordered the parts from Moss.

Did find that Moss uses 138400 serial number as the cut off between the .800 and the .875 bore cylinder. Luckily I measured mine. Car is 137353 and has a.875 bore.

My 67 is at the end of the 67 GT production numbers and I find a number of things that are supposedly from the 68 on. Could be that someone replaced the cylinder in the past, but from other little things I have found, probably more that this was available on the assembly line on the day my car was made.

I just had to replace the right front caliper on my '87 Chevy 4WD pickup. The 1/2 ton and 3/4 ton trucks used the same axle, but they used 3 different calipers that year. All of the calipers use the same pads. The only way to find out which system I had was to measure the rear brake drum diameter and the width of the shoe. It turned out to be the largest one that GM used that year. The truck left the factory with a V6 engine and 4 speed manual transmission. It has the 6' bed and a minimal amount of options. It turns out that GM converted over to the metric system on the last of the solid axle trucks, thus the confusion. Even the brake lines were totally different between the various calipers. RAY
