Can,t find leather door panel kit for 1966 mgb roadster to match the seats; only can find vinly did it ever come in leather;

Ernie,

Leather? I don't see the point. I have a 66 and it is black vinyl with red piping, looks pretty good.

The seats are a different matter, leather is great.

Ernie,

I looked it up in Clausager's "Original MGB" and it's slightly unclear. He stated, "The first MGB interior trim scheme was characterised by the use of contrast colour piping for the leather seats and the trim panels..." He's refering to the piping and not the leather, I believe. pg 31

On page 33, he describes the trim panels in detail but doesn't name the material used. I beleive they were vinyl (is that what the British call leathercloth?)

I believe the panels were always in vinyl. Moss Motors supplied mine and they look great--real plywood backing--nice upholstery work--very pleased. (except the screws are chrome not florentine bronze!)

An upscale source for MG upholstery is Heritage Upolstery & Trim of Blaine, WA
360-332-3022. I don't have any experience with them, just their brochure.

Also, for what its worth, the complete leather seats from Moss, ready to bolt in are worth every penny of the extra few hundred vs the leather covers.

Good Luck and have fun

Ernie-
MG put leather on that portion of the seats that actually came in contact with the body of the driver and passenger (seat facings) up until 1970 model year. Everything else was vinyl, including the door panels. If you want leather door panels, you can get them in seven different styles from P.J.M. Motors at http://www.pjm-motors.co.uk/ They ship to the USA. Get their free catalogue as it's worth looking through.
