MG MGB Technical - Left Turn Signals Don't Work
Hi, bit of a problem on my 71 BGT, the left turn signals don't flash or even light up. The right ones work fine but when i switch on the left ones the direction indicator on the dash stays lit & the turn signals don't flash. I have also had a recent problems with the headlamps, side lights & main beam which i now believe is an earth problem, could this be the case with the indicators? Thanks Scott |

Scott, The left side lights come on but don't flash? I would think an earth problem would mean no lights. Two things I can think of are the turn signal switch and the flasher unit. You could check your turn signal switch by swapping the left / right connections at the steering column. Flasher unit must be replaced, at least they are inexpensive. What's up with the other lights? Dave, i have sorted the headlights etc. it was due to a bad earth, cleaned up all the connections and all works fine. I will check the turn signal switch as i this seems to be the most logical problem. Thanks Scott |

Might have a problem with the circuit. I'd check the two bulbs on the left side and make sure you do no have any shorts. If the right side works then I doubt it has anything to do with the flasher. |

Hi.. Later models have a block of four fuses, one of them is for the left indicators, the other for the right, but I am not sure if your car is like this. If it is, I suggest that you check the fuses and check the fuseholders for corrosion. Don |

Scott - If the indicator on the dash lights but the system doesn't flash, you either have a burned out bulb front or rear, or a bad ground on the left side. Get out and check the lights front and rear. The one that is not on is the bad one. Good luck - Dave |
