MG MGB Technical - Little Plastic space on the BMC.

I am rebuilding the brake master cylinder for a '77 MGB. It seems to be missing the little plastice spacer. Looking at the paper work the spacer is used to make sure the second o-ring is in the correct position.
If I have the o-ring in the correct position. Will it work with out the spacer?
If not does any one have an extra one that they will let go of?
Is there a way to test the master cylinder before I put it on the car.
