MG MGB Technical - Longer wheel studs
Can anybody point me in the right direction to get some longer 1/2 UNF wheel studs for my V8, as I need to fit some spacers? |

Simon, don't know about the market over there, but here in the US most auto parts stores have catalogs showing the range of wheel studs with specs on the head diameter, knurled portion length and diameter, and stud length and thread pitch. I needed some 7/16" UNF studs to upgrade my midget and found some in just a few minutes looking through the catalog. The store ordered them for me from the warehouse and I had them in a couple of days. Other than that you can check with racing supply shops for extra length racing studs. |

In line with Bill's comments, here's a link to an actual catalog, which I found helpful for changing studs on my car (albeit a Nissan). I believe this company is in Australia, so some of the car model names may be different than what you're used to. Hopefully, it will give you some useful UNF info. In my case, one parts supplier couldn't be bothered to help and the others were too stupid. So, the easiest thing to do was to identify a car from the catalog, give them that make, model and year. Armed with that info, even a trained monkey could look the part up. http://www.niceproducts.com.au/images/WheelStud_scr.pdf |

Hi, I bought to Demon Tweeks Ford 12x1,5mm 1/2 longer studs and bolt, no modification for fit to the MG hub. Regards |

Simon. I recently needed studs for an odd-ball trailer I was repairing, I removed the stud base from the hub took it to my local NAPA store and they were able to match it perfectly with a number of different lenghts available RIC |

I decided it was time to do this as well, bought some Moroso 46220, 3" long, ½-20 thread, .563 knurl diameter. I will have to drill my hubs out to make them fit but its only .060" or so. I wanted to keep the UNF thread as I already have the V8 wheel nuts. |
