MG MGB Technical - Lucas Stop Lamp Indicator
I spotted this on fleabay. I hadn't seen one before. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/201362785652 |

Me neither. I suspect it is based on an indicator flasher unit, where as long as two bulbs are lit there is sufficient current for the gubbins to switch over with an audible click, but instead of then disconnecting the bulbs it does something with the warning lamp instead. One source indicates that when it clicks over like this it lights the warning lamp, but to me it would make more sense for it to light when it didn't click over after the brakes had been applied. Andy Capy in the MGOC mag got into an awful muddle trying to do this by putting diodes in series with the lamps (which reduces the voltage at the bulbs) and wires running up and down the car with relays in the boot connected to the fuel pump supply wire and all sorts. |

Yes, I know he did. Also, I don't think he allowed for the 1500 midget having a mechanical fuel pump. |
