MG MGB Technical - Lucas switch #39209A
I found this switch (circa 12 68) several years back and bought it because it looked like new. It is three position but doesn't have the white headlamp logo or Lucas name on it. Is this an original or did they have repro's back then also? Russ |

That number doesn't come up with anything for me, so I can't see what it looks like. If you are saying the switch has a 12 68 date code on it, then it's highly unlikely to have been a repro as they only started being used (in the MGB at least) on the North American Mk2 in late 67, elsewhere not until 73. Probably for another make and/or model. Looking at the Lucas Switchgear Catalogue quite a few had no logo or writing, and one or two of those were three-position. There are many numbers ranging from 303nn to 399nn but not 39209. |

Hello Paul - thanks for your note. You got me wondering so I looked at the stamp again with an eye piece. It is in fact 39209A 12 68. The A, I assume, means the first run of that #. I could not find it in a search anywhere either that's why I referred it to the experts on-line. Guess I'll just use it as a generic when one goes bad. Thanks again for your time & trouble. Russ |
