MG MGB Technical - MAJOR FUEL REVISIT
OK, a few weeks ago, I mentioned the fuel leak in my 79 B. The fuel dripping heavily on the passenger side of the car. In the interim, my computer did a C&B. So, this is how the story ends. The fuel lines actually crumbled in my hands when I tested them for flexibility. I removed the fuel pump to remove the factory crimp style hose clamps. Replaced the hoses and clamps only to have the fuel pump take a dive. So back under the car again. The points were charred and pitted. Not a pretty sight. Obviously an orignial unit. Purchased a new unit with solid state electronic actuated vs. point style. The new unit was shipped less o-rings and gaskets - more fun. O-rings and gaskets arrived via post yesterday and I'm back on the road today :>{D Everyone, climb under your car and check your fuel feed lines !!! cheers Gary |

aren't we having fun? Sounds like one of my deals !! Got the wiring harness under my dash all re-wrapped after solving some dash electrical issues created by the PO. Take car for drive a couple times then go out for quick trip to the wine store Sat. night with the fiance' and the wiring harness melts. Thanks to my battery cutoff switch behind the passenger seat there was no damage beyond the harness....so wiring harness should arrive today. Was on my list anyway but moved from #3 to #1. Know what I am doing with MY weekend. |
