MG MGB Technical - Manual Choke

Where does the SU manual choke fit on an 80 Fed, when converted, inside the cockpit, and how does it feed thru the bulkhead.

Found a hole for what I think is the hood release, LHS in the tunnel upper bulkhead, near the
aster Cylinders.
Jack

looks like my other request on vacuum.

Surely this item is specific enough, please take a peek at yours and let me know, I sure am puzzled.
Jack

There isn't a 'proper' place, it is up to the person doing it: where the cable will reach to, where there is a space on the dash, ease of routing etc. The hood release is where you indicate, far left hand side and low down on the box-section bulkhead, appearing from behind the inner wing in the engine compartment.
Paul Hunt

I set mine up in the far LH corner of the dash...in the spot where the fog light switch would normally go. Since I don't have fog lights...it was an ideal spot. I used rectangular bits of steel, with the edges rounded to hold it in the square hole. Looks like it belongs there.

Thanks R. L.

Can you just explain how you threaded it thru the bulkhead.

Ease of routing etc, which Paul alludes to, is what I seek.
Jack

Jack. I removed the dash rheostat, soldered the four wires together and installed the choke into the remaining hole. This position may offer some advantages. First, several people, including I believe John Twist, have recommended the removal of the rheostat to make the panel lights brighter. Something about as a variable resistor gets older, the resistance increases and results in less bright lights even on the maximum setting. This did seem to be true in my 79 and daughter's 77. Second, that leaves a round hole that easily takes either an MG or a Triumph (slightly longer) choke cable. I have the two RB cars set up with manual choke Webers and this is where the choke went. I then used a small hole punch to make a hole in the rubber piece on the bulkhead that gives access to the nose of the clutch master cylinder. Then, I ran the line out the right hand side of the pedal box, the opening down low, and forwards to the carb. Should work for the HIFs as well. Les
