MG MGB Technical - Master Brake and clutch removing
Hi iam busy with a late mgb Usa type, this is the first time im doing it since i got it striped might as well do it right, eventaully i got the masters out to repair and left the masters case in position now the question is to reverse fitting...is there an easy way to do it because the screws that goes on their flanges are bolt and nut and is not easy to fit and hold a spanner on the inside the de case...surely must be an easy to do it... thanks Alfredo |

Alfredo - The last time I took the master cylinders out of out car, I put helicoils in the holes on the mounting flanges. With the helicoils in place the bolts will screw right into the flanges. No need for the nuts anymore. Cheers - Dave |

If you've gone this far (as shown in your photo), then you might as well remove the bracket from the car and mount the master cylinders onto the bracket - then reinstall the bracket (with the new masters attached) as a complete assembly back into the car. Tip: You might want to bench bleed both master cylinders before installing them into the car. It will save to a lot of work and frustration when bleeding your brakes later on. |
