MG MGB Technical - master brake cylinder
I have a 1970 mgb roadster with a dual line non servo master cylinder. There is some minor pitting which needs to be cleaned up on the inside bore. Our local machine shop can do it but does anyone know what the maximum ID can be? Non of my manuals have any details on that. Thanks |

Can't help you with that spec, but may I ask why bother? If light honing wont remove the pits you should toss it, or send it to somebody like Apple Hydraulics to be sleeved. I have rebuilt (i.e replaced seals) on several of these in the past, with mixed results, on MC having clean, non pitted bores. One lasted over a year (I sold the car) and the other leaked within days. These days I would either a new Lockheed OEM, or have it sleeved and rebuilt with a quality parts kit. Just my $.02 |

I agree with Andy. Either get it resleeved or buy a new one. Sometimes being cheap on the front end is expensive on the backend, if you know what I mean. |
