MG MGB Technical - Master cylinder link pin
I have been rebuilding a duel line non-servo brake master cylinder for my MGB. There is a pin that holds the primary and secondary pistons together. This pin is #10 on page 261 in the Bentley shop manual and number #10 on page 156 of the Haynes shop manual. I ended up destroying this pin and was wondering if anyone knows what I can use to replace it. Neither Moss Motors or Victoria British have that part. -Thanks Steve |

Steve- Got a set of old, worn drill bits? Get out the smallest ones and find the one that fits, then cut it to length with your Dremel Tool. Beats buying a whole new master cylinder. |

A good machine tool supply company should have these on hand. If there are none nearby to you, then Reid Tool Supply Company in Michigan first comes to my mind. www.reidltool.com Big outfit. Printed catalog available. All sorts of cool hardware stuff in there. They have them...and they're called: "spring pins". Available in high carbon steel Rockwell C46-53 or 420 stainless steel (Rockwell C46-52). I do not know the exact size of the pin used in the MGB brake m/c, but Reid sells the pins for around .03¢ - .05¢, depending on size. Cheap enough to buy an assortment of sizes - to be sure that you have the correct one. |
