MG MGB Technical - MG BGT rust.
I have owned my GT for nearly 20 years, and now it needs the body restoring. It needs the normal things like front wings and full sills. The part that is worrying me is at the top of the wing, just where it meets the front screen. on both sides this panel has rusted through. What repair is carried out here? regards, Gaz. |

Gaz, That would be a new wing, but they bolt on - not too bad a job. The rear ones are the real pain as they are part of the bodyshell. Liam |

Take it to Guy Eastwood at Drayton Basset, next door to Drayton Manor Park near Tamworth, he specialises in MG'S and is very reasonable and very good. I think his mobile is 07721014097 Regards Graham Cherry |

The problem with GTs is that the panel at the base of the screen rusts though in the corners where it meets the wing, and that sounds like what Gaz has. Needs the screen removing, the rot cut, and new steel welded in. More difficult than wings, nowhere near as difficult as sills. |

Paul, that's the place. No problem taking screen out, can you buy these panel's? |

Not heard of them, cut and shape from flat sheet. Shouldn't be too difficult, I did the double-curvature section on the outer and lower part of the wing round the headlight in two sections just using pliers and hammers. |
