MG MGB Technical - MGB 40th Aniversary
I bought a smart magnetic plaque from the MG car club to celebrate the 40th Aniversary of the production of the MGB. I know it was announced at the Motor Show in October 1962 (yes I was around then!!)but does anybody know the 'official' birthday and are there any plans to mark this important event.. I am going to MGCC meeting at Silverstone later this month, will ther be a birthday party there? Mike |

I believe that the first production MGB rolled off the line at Abingdon in early June, 1962. The fifth, I think. Interestingly, the last MGA wasn't produced until some time in July. I believe that the first one or two MGB's were British-spec RHD vehicles. The next few hundred, knowing that the US would be an enormous market, were LHD roadsters. Back then, there was little difference between US and British spec cars, except for the position of the steering wheel. |

Paul said…… Back then, there was little difference between US and British spec cars, except for the position of the steering wheel I hope that all of the pedals and dials were in a different position too!!! ;-O |

I have just MOT'd my recently re-built MGB roaster after it being off the road for over 25 years,it rained to the test and back again and I must have looked a right nutter because I never bothered with the top or the fittings but hey, I saw a GT and I waved, so B@llocks. |
