MG MGB Technical - MGB brake master cylinder

I have a 1974 MGB. In the last 3 years I have installed 4 new brake master cylinders and 1 that was rebuilt. They all leak out the front seal (at the push rod). My next step is rebuilding the entire brake system. The master cylinder that is leaking now is still under warranty. My queston is do I send it back to Moss and get a new one or try to get my money back or send an older one to White Post in Virginia and get it brass sleeved.
Thanks,

Jerry

Jake, I'll bump this up for you. A few days ago I thought about you and wondered if you are still having master cylinder problems.

I don't know what to suggest? I think I would have White Post rebuild a cylinder and see how it works. I would also ask them for specific fluid recommentations so if it fails you cannot be blamed for using the wrong fluid. Did you catch the problem before the fluid started damaging the paint?

Hope to see you at the next meeting, I think we can go. We couldn't go to the last meeting because we were keeping our 3 year old grandson. Clifton

I have had similar problems when the car (69B) has sat unused over the winter. I replaced the MC with an OEM Lockheed MC from Moss in 2002. I have been using Valvoline Syntech.
THere was a similar thread on another BBS a while back, with people reporting the same thing. It was suggested using Beck-Arnley replacement seals to cure the problem, which are supposed to be mad eof a better rubber compound.
Last spring when I first noticed it I removed the pedal box, push rod and boot, and cleaned the weepage, pumped it at least 100 times and it did not leak. I reassembled it and drove it all summer without any problems. This winter I have made a point of pumping the brakes once a month. There was some slight weepage when the weather first turned very cold, but so far no leaks.

Thanks Clifton, I think that I will send the brake cylinder to White Post. I found this last one leaking before it did much damage to the paint. Hope to see you also at the next meeting.
Thanks,
