Thx.

Chrome or Rubber bumper? With any query here you must let us know the age so that we can give the proper advice.

I've posted some info on how to open an RB at http://www.mgb-stuff.org.uk/wn_bodyframe.htm and click on 'Bonnet/Hood release'. CBs vary between slatted, honeycomb and the intermediate grille, don't know why I haven't posted the same info for the honeycomb, maybe its impossible! I didn't wait until it happened to me before adding release cords.

Jon - Once you get the bonnet open, be sure to heed Paul's advice - read as "I didn't wait until it happened to me (again) before adding release cords." Which ever grill you have it willtake some fussing to get the bonnet open, but it can be done. Once open, don't close it again until you have added the release cord. Good luck - Dave

I also operate the release during the winter lay up. When I go up to pump the clutch to stop it sticking I operate all the cable controls and briefly switch on the period radio to keep the electrolytics formed. Some years ago when the release cable got sticky I took it off at the bonnet end, made up a plastic funnel gaffer taped to it put it up high at that end and poured in some oil and left it for a week. It's been fine since. I appreciate this advice is little late when the cable has snapped with the bonnet shut.
