MG MGB Technical - mgb gt interior

Hi

Could anyone tell me where i can buy the correct interior for my 1968 MGB GT the orginal colours is red with white piping. I am really getting confused with the amount of manufactuers that say they offer the correct interior. i live in Dartford Kent and could really do with someone helping me also i am trying to hunt down a trimmer/upholster who could provide the full seats etc.

Thank you for your response iain

Do you know if they would fit the front and back seats for me if i free issue them with mine. Also what is the quality like.

Thank You

I suppose they would fit your seats for you but quite frankly what's wrong with you fitting them yourself as there is only four bolts involved in each.

Quality is first rate.

Fit the seats or reupholster the seats? While fitting the seats is easy, reupholstering is a much bigger job, but not difficult as long as you follow step-by-step instructions correctly. The covers themselves are fully stitched, they just need pulling on and attaching in the right way. Lyndsay Porter's 'Guide to Putchase and DIY Restoration of the MGB', republished as 'The mgb restoration Manual', has comprehenive instructions, and there were a set with the covers I bought. I also copied another set from somewhere else (can't remember where) for good measure. But none of them warned the seat foams and covers are handed, and of course I didn't notice it until I had the first one glued in position. Rather than pull it off and risk damage I considered the difference wasn't that noticeable so carried on. You can see it if you look for it, but it doesn't stick out like the proverbial. Still would rather have got it right, though. MGBHive do seem to offer a reupholstery service, but you would have to get the seats (or car) to them and collect afterwards, and labour is the most expensive part of restoration. Closer to you is LMG at Bexleyheath, can't comment on them except to say they have an MGOC 5* rating as does MGBHive.
