MG MGB Technical - Moly-Slip additive
Any suggestions as to the amount of milage after a rebuild that I can add Moly-Slip. Thanks |

I would not add Moly or use a synthetic oil until the engine had covered at least 1000 miles. |

Thanks Chris. The car will be coming up for its first 3000 mile oil change in a few weeks (I did one at 500 miles also) so I guess I can add a can at that time. Thanks again. Ken |

Ken, I would contact MolySlip via e-mail for their opinion. Check the company website (www.molyslip.co.uk) for an e-mailing address. I had asked a similar question when I had the tranny rebuild (w/o OD)and had intended to add the gear oil additive. I got a very nice reply from MolySlip's GM along with some useful technical info and tips. I use MolySlip in the diff., tranny and engine = very quiet running car. Richard |

I've heard a lot about this stuff.....does it really live up to its hype? I'd be tempted to use it if people have had positive experiences. Thanks Bruce |

If this is Powdered moly then IMO it should not be added to engine oil. Most oils are already properly blended and extra additives can easily spoil the blend. Paul |

Forget about moly. Oils are so good today it really is a waste of money. Slick50 was sued because of exaggerated hype and the fact it did absolutely nothing. Probably the same for the moly stuff. Most of the additives drop out and lubricate the pan :) |

Got it in one. I wouldn't touch it either these companies have to sell their products but modern oils contain a very good blend of additives and the oil companies would certainly include moly if it were going to improve the product. |
