I take mine to Alwyn Kirshaws at Gate Helmsley. Always pleased with them and they have respect for classic cars. |

Mark has started a great thread, and it's very helpful to me since I am resident near York. I am going to try Stillingfleet Garage which I am told is good, and I will be quizzing the two neighbours over the road who own MGBs to pick their brains (we have quite a few MGs here in Riccall). Where do people go for Tyres? Is there a good general motoring accessories shop in the York area? Something like a really useful version of Halfords... My road car needs a towbar fitting, I know about Camerons, but is there anywhere else that someone could recommend? John. |

John, I live in Naburn and own a 67 Roadster. I can't comment about the garage in Stllingfleet so let me know how you get on since it is only 2 miles away. I can only recommend those that I have had regular dealings with such as Kirshaws at Gate Helmsley. I have always dealt with Bob West at Pontefract for spare parts, tuning, advice etc. Main reason is I had an MGA and Bob West is the MGA specialist. Tyres can be had most places but if you are a purist then you need to go to one of the specialists such as Longstone Tyres at Bawtry. The last set of tyres I bought were Marshalls from a dealer in Dewsbury but they were nothing special, just a good price. ATS in York gan get Firestone and Pirelli tyres to suit MGBs (165 x 14) so you have plenty to go at. Feel free to call me sometime if you need any help 07813 784120. Roger |

Roger, Thanks for that, I am familiar with Bob as I had a MGA until a couple of years ago (I nearly ran the MGA on Marshalls but found some cheaper Continentals). I am working in Wakefield for a while so I will probably pay him a visit soon. I now have a '64 MGB and live near a person with an MGB (I think a '67 too) and his neighbour has an MGB GT. The latter probably updated to a TF now so I don't know if he still has the GT. I will indeed feel free to call, I am on 07977 980631 if you need anything MG wise. John. |
