MG MGB Technical - mounting infant/baby capsule/seat restraints in B
wish to safely mount anchors for baby capsule/child seat in rear of 1979 mgb roadster |

Steve Babies are best in a baby seat strapped to the passenger seat or lying down in a cot on the parcel shelf. Later - two small children can be secured by lap belts (securon) using the anchor points on the wheel arches and a central point above the diff IN THE BOOT. You will need a modified GT rear seat (Squab and backrest)to make a presentable job of it. Initially, your partner will have to think very very small and curl up on the parcel shelf. Where there's a will......... Roger |

Steve, I think you'll have a couple of problems, in most states MGB is only registered as a 2 seater so I'm sure there will be a 3rd party insurance problem, even if the seat could be mounted "in the rear" . A child capsule/seat 'may' be able to be mounted in the passenger seat but I don't think suitable anchor points (if any at all) are built in, so as I understand it you would have to contact your local motor registry to find out their requirements - usually any mods will require an engineers design and certificate (am told this is the case for converting early B's to enertia reel belts in Qld) best do this mod properly from a legal/roadworthy/cops point of view but more importantly for your little ones safety. Good luck Gordon |

I once drove a GT with three passengers in it. With a webasto, you can put their heads out the roof. I wonder what the record for people in a BGT is? |
