MG MGB Technical - Mystery Dizzy
Good day all, Well it finally happened. The base of my DM2 that has been overtightened way too many times has finally given in. I found another dizzy, this one a 23D4 40819K w/out vac adv. I've searched the archives and viewed the link in another dizzy thread listed a few days ago and found that it is most likely from a Mini though I could not find a specific listing for the "K". It has a 15 deg designation on the inside which was the same as my DM2. I'm ok w/out the vac adv because it is going into my racer. I went ahead and set it at 32 deg @ 3500 RPM (I don't have a variable timing gun). Should I expect a difference in performance? What are the collectives thoughts? j |

There's no better way to see how it works than to try it out!!! I think you'll find it feels flat compared to the stock unit with vac advance. Is there a reason you were running a DM2 instead of a 25D? The DM2 is nowhere near as reliable (speaking in terms of timing) as the 25D unless you have one of the early 60's models with the updated advance assembly. If you never find yourself under 3000 rpms you may like the new unit. Since we don't even know what engine it is bolted on to, its hard to say. |

from the Teglerizer site it looks like from a 1275cc midget MkIII/Sprite MkIV though there is no designation of K on what they show either. RE: Vac Advance their listing shows "None Attached". |
