MG MGB Technical - Name that thread ...
I don't know where to find out except here: can someone tell me the threading on the gas line fitting attached to the gas tank? (In other words, the male-threaded fitting welded onto the tank from which the fuel line is fed.) |

David - The thread is a 1/4" BSP (British Standard Pipe). This is a straight pipe thread rather than a tapered pipe thread. If you need the female counterpart for the coupling, check in Victoria British catalog on the pages that have fuel pumps, I believe that they carry them. If not, then try Burlen Fuel at http://www.burlen.co.uk/ Good luck - Dave |

Hmmm, David may be right but I would have bet my bottom dollar it was what's called 5/16" Tube thread (I don't know what that stands for, but it's common terminology within the muscle car fraternity, and any auto parts shop will know of whence you speak). That's the thread that worked for me, anyway, when I re-plumbed my system last year. |

I checked the thread against a 1/4 BSP tap. The match is exact. I suspedt that the tube thread Ted is talking about is an American pipe thread (straight). Dave |
