MG MGB Technical - Nardi Steering Wheel Restoration
I have a Leather signed Nardi steering wheel that came on may 64 B. The leather on the wheel was faded and splotchy. When I restored the car I had the leather on the steering Wheel re-dyed but it only lasted a year or so. wrapping the wheel didnt work that well as the wheel is not a standard diameter. Does anyone know of another way to re-dye the leather? Would black vinyl paint work or would that come off in your hands. Any ideas on how to restore the leather. |

I would bring it to an automotive upholstery shop and have the leather replaced. The only way to properly dye it is to remove it from the wheel anyway. Spray-on vinyl dye will probably hold up if the leather is thoroughly cleaned first. It will make the leather feel dry and hard though. It will actually soak in and harden in the leather. The finish may also look unusual - as if it were painted. |

Here is a place which claims to be able to stitch on new leather to your old wheel. http://www.american-stitches.com/amstitches/Pages/main.html |
