MG MGB Technical - Needles for HS4
Hi all, I need some advice. I have an American spec 1978 MGB. The engine and the head had a complete rebuild, I removed all the emission things and I installed two HS4 carbs. My question is what needles do I use best? Any advice is welcome. Regards, Herman |

The last American cars on HS4s were on AAL but before that up to 1970 AAE - initially the US cars were on FX. My guess they all will work as would the early home market MB standard needles (6- rich . 21 -weak). If the work on your head included the unleaded conversion and bigger valves, I would go for the rich needle. |

Hi Herman, I agree with Roger. No 6 needles are a good starting point, particularly if you're using less restrictive air filters, such as K&N and/or have a less restrictive exhaust. These are the needles I use in mine with the aforementioned K&Ns, and a straight through two inch exhaust and single rear silencer. |
