MG MGB Technical - no tail lights

I can't get my tail lights to work. I have directionals and brake lights only. I have checked my fuses and all are good, I can't even find a hot wire when checking the wires in the trunk. can some one help me Please I am getting frustrated. Thanks

Is there power at the two fuses with red wires? The lights are arranged (if they are like the ones in the midget) so that right front and left rear are on one fuse and left front and right rear on the other. For all of them to be out, it sounds like the headlight switch or a bullet connector in between. Check for power at the headlight switch (yes, it is a pain to get at) with a test lamp (VOM could show voltage with a bad bullet sleeve that is not passing enough current to light the lights).

David "there are wiring diagrams online somewhere..." Lieb (and jay) - The wiring diagrams can be found at: http://www.advanceautowire.com/ click on Stock Schematics, then on MGB, then scroll down to the schematic for your car. Better still, copy th efile to a flash drive and take it to Kinko's and have them make a full sized (11 X 17) and laminate it for you.

What year? Mk1 cars had a single red wire coming off the main lighting switch going to all four parking lights. 67 to 69 there were two in-line fuses, one for the fronts and one for the rears. After that all cars had a four-fuse fusebox and the top two fed the parking lights, one fuse per side.

Mk1s have a 4-way bullet with three reds in it by the main fusebox where the rear harness joins the main harness. 67 to 69 there is the same 4-way plus the two in-line fuses and another 2-way bullet connector for the fronts. From 70 with separately fused sides there were two 2-ways each with three wires where the rear harness joins the main.

Even if you have a 70 or later i.e. with separately powered sides you could have more than one fault.
