MG MGB Technical - NOS?
IS IT POSSIBLE TO PUT NOS IN 1968 B RD
SCOT
You should give APT a call, they're in Riverside, CA. Their numbers are: 909-686-0260 or 800-278-3278 Their website is www.aptfast.com They sell NOS parts, and I'm sure if you give them a call they can tell you everything you need to know. From what I understand setting up a nitrous oxide system requires a great deal of care to avoid serious engine damage. I've dealt with these guys before and they were very helpful.

SCOT, post the results. We'd love to hear what you paid and how extensive the work is, if you included water injection, the response at various rpms, and how long the motor holds up to the stress. There is a shop in Daytona that builds a 3 wheel car. It has 2 front and one rear. The drivetrain is a Harley motor bolted to a VW transaxle which was turned around and put on the front. Its called a Corbin and I'd love to know what NOS would do to it as well. I didn't win the lottery yet, so I guess I'll have to wait.

kids1, Forgive me for being off-topic. But if you like the Corbin, do a web search for the "Boss Hoss." It's a two-wheeled bike with a Chevy small block motor (and automatic transmission - two forward speeds, one reverse). They advertise it for smoothness and reliability as a highway cruiser. At 350 HP, I don't think I'd want to add NOS. Cheers, Matt K.

Matt, I met the guy that started Boss Hoss and I've been to the dealer at Daytona for those as well. They have the Corvette engine on one model and a Ford 302 on another. I've heard them both run. First gear goes to over 60 mph. Gas tank is shaped like a "ray with no tail and is as big as the top of the motor. I think I'll keep my sites on the Corbin, but for now I'll enjoy my B. BTW, I didn't win the lotto. yet

I ran a 50 hp motorcycle-based nitrous kit on my mildly warmed over B for about a year. I bought the kit used for $200 including the bottle from a guy who ran a drag bike. I drilled both nitrous and enrichment nozzles into the carb heat spacers, and added a near-wot microswitch to the carb linkage. I could have gotten away with a dry system like many street cars use, but had lost a few plugs on my 347 inch stroker mustang drag car with a 250 hp kit, and didn't want those concerns on a street car. Fifty horses don't seem like a lot, but a 50% power gain is a real kick in the butt, if only for ten sec at a time. I used it quite often, but when I tore the eng down, there were no signs of bearing or ring wear. Since selling the B sans nitrous, I'm toying with the idea of installing it in a midget....
