MG MGB Technical - Oil Cooler Hoses - Wrong Length

Bought new oil cooler hoses from Moss recently for my 73 GT. But I was never happy with the fit of the lower one, which seemed far too long. Sure enough, on buying some second hand ones (age uncertain but certainly pretty old) the lower hose is a full 2" shorter! (28" cf. 26" from spigot to spigot for the record.)

In view of the age of the 26" hose, I'd ideally like to replace it with a new one the correct length at the next oil change. It doesn't leak but nor does it look robust.

Can anyone name a supplier who sells the correct length?

Thanks
T H Brearley

Find your local supplier of hydraulic hoses and have one made up to your own specs.

Yeah, just take your new one in and get them to shorten it--are the ends screw on or swaged, if they're screw type you can do it yourself

The hoses are different between over-slung and under-slung coolers, the latter are longer. A bit difficult to measure in-situ but mine from Moss a few years ago looks to be about 25" between the ends of the swages i.e. ignoring the metal pipes and nuts. It does curve away from the other one a little in front of the rad i.e. for neatness could be a little shorter, but less than an inch I'd say.

These Moss ones have the part numbers on the hoses, I know when parts come from manufacturers unlabelled they can go into the wrong bins at the supplier.
