MG MGB Technical - Oil lake in rocker cover
I've just attempted to fill with oil after a rebuild and found that the rocker cover filled up like a swimming pool before draining extremely slowly to the sump. I'm used to seeing the oil glug quickly to the bottom end. Am I missing something? The only change to my normal oil change routine was priming the oil pump by forcing oil into the rear oil cooler and oil pressure pipe connections, and filling the oil filter. Thanks, Steve |

Steve - nothing unusual, especially in cold weather . The oil only has two holes to get down to the sump by and if you manage to flood the tappet chest and rocker box then the only way out for the trapped air is via the breather and dipstick tube! |

Steve- What Chris says is true. Your engine is now so oil-tight that you have to pull out the dipstick to get new oil into it quickly. See what all-new gaskets and seals can accomplish?! Consider it to be a sign that you won't have an engine that's a leaker anymore. Well Done! |

Now I feel good! Thanks to both of you. |
