MG MGB Technical - Passing Gas
The abandoned project revival...........I am ready to start the long dormant motor on the 73 B. Question, what is the minimum amount of gas, (petrol?), to put in the fuel tank to allow the fuel pump to operate properly? Thanks, Tom |

Probably 1 or 2 gallons, just enough to cover the bottom of the pickup tube. You might want to run a flexible line from the inlet side of the pump into a can of fuel and run the pump long enough to get some fuel up into it so there is liquid around the check valves, allowing them to seal better and thereby pulling a better vacuum.
