MG MGB Technical - Pedal box MGB V8 1974
Have just finished rebuilding the front brakes after they have been off for 25 years +. Both the brake and clutch master cylinders are shot. Had a nightmare trying to get them off the car as there always seemed to be something in the way, finally got them off by removing the pedals and the push rods. Not wanting to take the new master cylinders apart when fitting them I wondered if it is possible to rebuild the complete peddle box with master cylinders and pedals out of the car before refitting the whole assembly in one piece.I am not sure if the hole in the bulk head is lagge enough to get the pedles through once the unit is assembled. Car is fitted with single line brakes. |

I've changed both brake and clutch masters, on a couple of cars, leaving everything else in-situ. Does need some ingenuity to get the nuts and washers back on afterwards but I didn't find anything physically in the way. I've also had the clutch pedal off with everything else in-situ, so at the very least you should be able to refit that once the rest of the assembly is back in. |
