MG MGB Technical - pertronix-79 MGB
I have a 1979 MGB with pertronix ignition. It also has a ballast resister. How do I connect the tachometer up. I mean where do I connect it? Sandy |

Exactly the same as normal, the black/white from the tach goes to the coil -ve. The black (I think) from the Pertronix replaces the black/white from the points to the coil -ve. As both black/whites are usually in the same spade conenctor you will not really be able to identify which is which unless you cut one of them away from the connector and therefore have a 50/50 chance of getting it wrong. I'd just tape the black/white which originally went to the points back to the harness out of the way so it can be re-used in the future if required (In fact I wouldn't bother fitting a Pertronix, but that is another story). |
