MG MGB Technical - Pinion Oil Seal
G'day. I have a small leak from the pinion oil seal on the rear axle of my '67 model roadster. I can get a part number from Moss but my local supplier has no way of relating that to a size. Could anyone tell me the ID, OD and width of the oil seal. He has found a part number for a midget and a Marina. The measurements of those are 1.5 x 2.5 x .375 (38.1 x 63.5 x 9.5mm) 1.66 x 2.63 x .375 (42.1 x 66.7 x 9.5mm) Don't really want to take it all apart before I have a spare to install. Any help appreciated. Tony |

Tony, The other alternative is to give Bruce Smith at Sportsparts a ring and he'll probably have the correct part in the mail to you today! Cheers, David |

Thanks Steve, mine is the banjo type, maybe I got the OD wrong as the ID and width seem to be the same. Good idea David, I keep forgetting him. I'll call him. Cheers Tony |

According to RockAuto.com, the Timken part no's are: TIMKEN Part # 481837 Rear Axle; MGB;Banjo Type Diff. TIMKEN Part # 224470 Rear Axle; MGB;Tube Type Diff. Go to the Timken site and get dimensions. Wayne |
