MG MGB Technical - plastic hose and T-fitting in trunk
| The response to my first post was so good that I thought I would try my luck a second time. As we finished removing everything from the trunk area we found a thin plastic hose running through a grommet to the left of wiring harness on the floor of the trunk (boot). The hose terminated in a plastic "Tee" fitting. When we looked underneath to see where it connected, we found it wasn't attached to anything! Can anyone identify this hose and let me know to what it is supposed to be attached? Nowthat the bodyworkand paint are one, I have to reinstall it and feel kind of silly leaving it hanging the way I found it. |

| To expand a bit on Jim's answer, the tube runs down to a nipple either in the side of an original-type SU fuel pump or to a nipple on the point cover of the same type pump. (If a PO has replaced your fuel pump with a facet-type pump, there'll be nothing to which you can attach the hose.) On my '69 I have two hoses; one to each of the aforementioned nipples. Both terminate in the boot with a plastic T. I think the T is just too keep the hose from pulling through and perhaps to prevent detritus from getting in the hoses..... |
