MG MGB Technical - power steering rack

hi does anybody know what car the mgb power steering conversion rack is off.
thanks
p s has anyone here done a conversion themselves as the owners club one is very expensive.

RC- I'm paying attention, lurking in the background. Love to try a power steering hookup on the 79 roadster and go back to a 13 inch steering wheel. Frankly, I didn't know there was a stock or doable swap out there. Vic

Vic - I believe this is the one that RC is referring to: http://www.mgocaccessories.co.uk/acatalog/MGOC_Accessories__MGB_Power_Steering_200.html

It is very expensive. For us here in the states, take 17.5% off the top (our "discount" for not paying the VAT) - but if you wanted a pre-fab cross-member expect to lose that in more in shipping from the UK.

It's not a bad concept, but MGOC are just a bit too proud of their version, IMO.

Hi RC,

I'm told that the rack the MGOC use is a Peugeot 306 rack. The clever bit is that they use a LHD rack and turn it back-to-front to make it suitable for RHD operation on an MGB.

Does anyone know the pressure and flow rates required to operate such a rack?

Hi guys

The other option is to buy the system from Tim Fenna at Frontline! He uses an electric system; it can be installed in 4 hours and is a third of the price of the MGOC unit! Also much lighter, smaller and easier to maintain! Has to be worth a look...
Ed Braclik

Aren't Tim's products for Spridgets only? Some fabbing is gonna happen no matter what, but be prepared to adapt the adaptation to fit.

Worth a look, though.
