MG MGB Technical - Pushing on brake pedal
When I push on my brakes hard and hold them down I get a SHHHHHHHHHHHH noise like some one is trying to quiet me. The car still stops ok but it dosen't lock up is this noise comming from the master cylinder which I assume is 26 years old. Denny |

Assume your car is a 1980 model? The hissing is probably a vacuum leak in the brake booster. My car doesn't have one, but others whose do will surely chime in. In the short term, pull the vacuum hose from the booster and plug it. Now when you push the brake pedal, is the hiss still there? If not, then the problem is the booster. If the hiss is still there, check for snakes in the glove box. |

Matt this seems to be a V8 matter. I changed the jets on the four barrel carb so now it idles perfect. I notice when i reved the engine and push on the brakes it no longer makes the hisssss,or I can't here it. So as long as the brakes work it should be fine,it,s only my life. Now I will post this on the V8 site. Thank you Denny |
