MG MGB Technical - rear end knock
could anyone identify a noise in the offside rear wheel area of my mgb.it occurs when i go over a bump,it doesn't happen when i accelerate or slow down iv'e had it in my local mg garage and all the shockers have been checked out for tightness and found to be ok,the garage owner said it wasn't axle clonk but could't find the fault.iv'e changed the rear shocks for telescopics on the rear but the noise persists, help, cheers. |

Mine does too! (But nearside) I'm starting to wonder if it is a slight flexing in the metalwork around the front spring mount causing a panel to bow in and out. I've changed the thrust washers, checked the wheel bearings, and halfshaft nuts, checked the spring bushes, shock linkages, 'U' bolts, shock absorbers for tightness, anti-roll bar ends, replaced both UJs, screwed the spare wheel down, taken everything out of the boot, made sure the lid doesn't rattle, and it STLL clonks only when driving, not when bouncing enthusiastically on the wings whilst parked. |

Is it your leaf springs sticking then leting go? Try liberally lubricating with waxoil? |
